Barcelona receive injury boost ahead of Inter Milan clash tomorrow

Coming on as a substitute during Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan in the Champions League, Franck Kessie suffered an untimely thigh injury.

As a result, the Ivory Coast international was unavailable for the Blaugrana’s latest 1-0 win against Celta Vigo. However, a piece of positive injury news has been revealed about the multifaceted midfielder.

Franck Kessie is available for Barça’s upcoming contest against Inter Milan, as revealed by the squad list released today by the club. The former AC Milan star has recovered one week ahead of schedule.

Ultimately, this is a welcome update for Xavi, considering a number of his key players have succumbed to injury lately.

For instance, Ronald Araujo underwent a thigh injury as well, that is said to have put his hopes of representing Uruguay at the Qatar World Cup in doubt.

While Jules Kounde’s injury is not as extreme in nature, his fine start to the season at the Spotify Camp Nou was cut short after an untimely knock.

Andreas Christensen is another crucial figure who suffered an ankle injury during his side’s loss to Inter last weekend.

The same goes for Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay, who had to depart international duty prematurely after getting injured. The former, of course, is now back, and in contention to start at the Camp Nou tomorrow.

With Kessie’s ability to operate both as the deepest man in midfield and further forward, Xavi will be chuffed to see him return to proceedings once again.

Especially during the busy October period, where the Catalan giants will be tested in Europe as well as La Liga as well.

With Barcelona set to face Inter Milan and El Clasico in the same week, Franck Kessie’s availability remains key, in case either Pedri, Gavi or Sergio Busquets suffer an injury woe.
